The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is the oldest national, nonprofit youth soccer program in the United States which provides soccer development and instruction for children between ages 3 and 19.

AYSO was established with only nine teams by a handful of soccer enthusiasts in 1964 out of a garage in Torrance, California. Five decades later, AYSO has thriving programs in 900 communities, 220,000 volunteers, 56,000 teams, 560,000 players, over 6,000,000 AYSO alumni, and a logo that’s recognized nationwide.

Over the years, AYSO created many valuable programs and concepts. Most notably, AYSO revolutionized youth sports with its Six Philosophies, living tenets that separate it from other sports organizations.
